Western North Carolina is covered with an endless array of trails with hundreds of miles of world class single track to satisfy your thirst for riding. You will have the chance to visit the Cane Creek factory and test your endurance in a race.. You will also have the opportunity to learn bike mechanics, increase your mountain biking skills, and visit an area of the country that draws millions of tourists every year.
Days 1-4 Asheville: You will spend a day on a high ropes course to get to know your group better before hitting some great single track trails in the Bent Creek area. It’s then onto a 10 mile technical downhill near Black Mountain.
Days 5-7 Pisgah National Forest: The endless trails in Pisgah will lead you to hidden slick rock, amazing views, and test your ability on some technical sections complete with creeks, rocks, and roots.
Days 8-10 Beech Mountain: Located near the Tennessee state line, you will find the ski resort of Beech Mountain. It is here that you can watch the experts race and then test your endurance on the same trails. At night you and your group can relax in the comfort of your own condo.
Days 11&12 Tsali: Famous in the south for its great trails that follow the banks of Lake Fontana, Tsail’s hard packed, scenic trail system is a lot of fun. While in the area you and your group will spend a day on the river in the beautiful Nantahala Gorge.
Days 13&14 Fontana Village: Fontana has hosted many mountain bike races over the years, with the races drawing more people each year as the word spreads about the quality of the trails. You will find your ability being tested on some technical downhill sections and your endurance stretched on some steep up hills. Just remember: “what goes up must come down” and these down hills are worth the effort you put in on the up hills.
Day 15 Asheville: You will spend the morning riding at Wolf Laurel ski resort before heading back to Asheville for a final trip dinner and celebration.
Day 16: Home.
Areas Visited: Asheville – Bryson City – Tsali – Fontana – Boone – Bent Creek – Pisgah National Forest – Blue Ridge Parkway – Black Mountain.
Highlights: Mountain biking, bike mechanics, high ropes course, swimming, kayaking, hiking, and exploring the best trails in the South East.
Ability Level: Mostly indoor accommodations, some camping
