• Learn How to Mountain Bike

    Two great locations to choose from!


    This is a great introduction to the sport of mountain biking. Learn How to Mountain Bike is designed specifically to teach you the basics of mountain biking, as well as provide a foundation in bike mechanics. Western North Carolina is the home of outdoor adventure in the South East. An endless trail network ensures that you will learn the fundamentals of mountain biking and have a great time even if you have never been off-road before. With so many trails to choose from, your leaders will find the perfect trails to increase your confidence and build skills. During the course of your trip your leaders will take time to teach bike mechanics, giving you a knowledge base to take home with you and practice in the off season.
     Days 1-4 Asheville: You will spend a day on a high ropes course to get to know your group better before jumping on your bike to learn the techniques that make mountain biking such a fun sport. We will ride trails that suit the ability and comfort level of your group.
    Days 5-7 Fontana Village and Tsali: We will move on to a little more challenging terrain in order to help you improve on the new skills that you are learning. Tsali is famous in the south for its great trails that follow the banks of Lake Fontana. Time will be set aside to go rafting in the famous Nantahala Gorge.
    Day 8-9 Pisgah National Forest: A diverse trail network ensures that we will find the perfect trails for you and your group to build your confidence and practice all you have learned over the course of the trip.

      Areas Visited:  Asheville – Dupont – Fontana Village – Tsali
    Highlights: Mountain biking, bike mechanics, high ropes course swimming, hiking, sight seeing and exploring.

    This is also a great introduction to the sport of Mountain Biking. As with the NC program Learn how to Mountain Bike is designed specifically to build skills and increase confidence for younger students. The trip will start at a campground with an extensive trail network that provides the perfect place for you to learn the fundamentals of riding off road. You and your group will then move to the White Mountains where you'll ride progressively more challenging terrain until you're tackling trails with grace and style. Imagine the fun and sense of accomplishment you'll achieve from navigating the muddy, rocky rides and technical single track that makes New England mountain biking famous. Your group will choose activities that interest you the most along the way, making each session a unique and exciting experience for everyone. No matter how much you have ridden or what your ability is, this trip will bring fun and laughter to your summer!


    Days 1&2 Thornton: Orientation and fundamentals of mountain biking, ride trails, learn new skills, swim, and spend some time sitting around the campfire. There may even be time for some mini golf, a movie or pizza.

    Days 3&4 Waterville Valley: You will get your first chance to test your new skills on some hilly terrain. We will ride trails that suit the ability level of your group.

    Day 5 Franconia Notch: You will spend the day rock climbing and rappelling with an amazing view of the White mountains as a back drop.

    Day 6&7 Clough State Park: The trails in this area are a lot of fun and will be chosen to challenge you further, enabling you to see for yourself the improvements you have made over the course of the trip.

    Day 8&9 Bear Brook State Park: The trails here will provide you with the opportunity to use all the skills you have learnt over the course of the trip and enable you to return home with the confidence and knowledge to continue enjoying the sport of mountain biking to its fullest.

    Day 10: Home.
